The Office of Black Catholic Ministries

Sharing the Gospel and promoting evangelization in the Black American community.

What we do

The Office of Black Catholic Ministries fosters the rich diversity of the Black Catholic Community within the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Its mission is to evangelize, enhance and celebrate the contributions of persons of African descent and the gifts they have to offer the Church and society. The office seeks to be a representative body composed of laity, religious and clergy dedicated to fostering the spiritual, educational, economic and cultural lives of persons of African descent in the archdiocese, reaching out to Catholics and non-Catholics, those who are active in the church as well as the un-churched. The Office of Black Catholic Ministries cooperates with the bishops, parish and archdiocesan leadership bodies, offices and agencies to carry out its evangelizing mission.

KEEP ON TEACHING

Keep on Teaching is a resource manual written from an Africentric perspective. It offers a unique study of the rituals and sacraments of the Catholic faith. It is designed to assist catechists, parish leaders, evangelization minsters and youth ministers who serve in the Black Catholic community. In 2022, this nationally known symposium celebrated its 32nd anniversary.
